The HP Garage
367 Addison Avenue is the street address of the birthplace of Silicon Valley - the HP Garage. It was in this humble 12x18-foot building that college friends Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard pursued the dream of a company of their own. Guided by the desire to develop innovative and useful products, Bill and Dave created the original "garage startup" with just $538 in capital.
With their first major order in hand in 1938 from another budding business, Disney, Bill and Dave blazed a trail at the forefront of the electronics revolution, which today is a $100+ billion industry famous for spurring invention. Their humble beginning provided the inspiration for millions of small businesses over the last 70 years, and it continues to inspire us at HP.
